Welcome to Rink Hunters

We've put a lot of work into building the most comprehensive ice rink directory in North America. This page explains how you can (and can't) use our site and its data. We've kept it in plain language because nobody likes reading walls of legalese.

By using Rink Hunters, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, that's okay — but please don't use the site.

What You Can Do

You're welcome to use Rink Hunters for its intended purpose: finding ice rinks, getting directions, and exploring hockey programs near you. You can share links to our site with friends, teammates, and anyone who needs to find a rink. You can also use our site on any device — we built it to work on phones, tablets, and desktops.

What You Can't Do

Our rink database is a curated, original compilation — it didn't come from a single source, and we've invested significant effort in collecting, verifying, deduplicating, enriching, and formatting this data. That makes it our intellectual property, and we take its protection seriously.

      You may not scrape, crawl, copy, download, harvest, or otherwise systematically extract data from Rink Hunters using automated tools, scripts, bots, or any other means — whether manual or automated. This includes accessing our API in ways that exceed normal personal use.
    

Specifically, you agree not to:

Use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or crawlers to access or collect data from this site. Reproduce, republish, or redistribute our rink database or any substantial portion of it. Build a competing product, directory, or dataset using data obtained from Rink Hunters. Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features of the site, including rate limiting, CAPTCHA challenges, or access controls. Attempt to reverse-engineer our API or access data through any undocumented endpoints. Use our data for commercial purposes without a licensing agreement.

Our Database Is Unique

The Rink Hunters database contains proprietary attributes, formatting, and data points that are unique to our compilation. Our dataset includes embedded identification markers that allow us to detect unauthorized copies. If our data appears in another product or service, we will know — and we will take action.

Data Licensing

If you're interested in using our rink data for your own project, app, or business, we're open to that conversation. We offer data licensing arrangements that can work for a range of use cases.

Accuracy Disclaimer

We do our best to keep rink information accurate and up to date, but rinks change their hours, programs, and contact info all the time. Rink Hunters is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Always contact a rink directly to confirm schedules, pricing, and availability before making a trip.

Third-Party Links

Our rink listings include links to rink websites, Google Maps, and Waze for directions. These are third-party services we don't control. We're not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or availability.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the effective date below. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the new terms.

Enforcement

We monitor our site for unauthorized access patterns and data extraction. Violations of these terms may result in immediate blocking of your access, legal action to protect our intellectual property, and claims for damages resulting from unauthorized use of our data.

We don't want it to come to that. If you have a question about what's allowed, just ask.
